Tip #602: Words to Live By

This Tip shares wonderful words to live by offered by Dr. Abdul Kalam, who converted FAIL into First Attempt at Learning.

“Don’t just learn something from every experience, learn something positive.” Al Neuharth

I have learned a lot from Facebook postings. Today’s Tip is dedicated with great appreciation to the person who posted a quote from Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was an Indian scientist and politician. He served his country as president from 2002 to 2007. After leaving office, he became a visiting professor at several universities. Dr. Kalam formed the “What Can I Give Movement” in 2011 . The goal was to create a compassionate society. In 2012, his efforts to improve healthcare led to the release of a tablet for medical personnel to use in remote areas.

Words to Live By

His quote offers wonderful words to live by as we begin a new year:

“If you fail, never give up because F.A.I.L. means ‘First Attempt In Learning.’

End is not the end, if in fact E.N.D. means ‘Effort Never Dies.’

If you get No as an answer, remember N.O. means ‘Next Opportunity.’

 So let’s be positive!”

Words have such power. I love the creativity in converting what initially appear to be negative words into positive and uplifting sayings!  In marketing and sales, it will help to hear NO as Next Opportunity. I’m also happy to not worry about failing if FAIL means First Attempt in Learning!  I don’t know if I always want to think of END as Effort Never Dies. As a recovering perfectionist, I tend to persevere long after I should have either called someone to help or just stopped and taken a breath.

May your learning be sweet.
