Designing Participant-Centered Curriculum: Elevate Your Training

We believe in learning that truly engages. Our Designing Participant-Centered Curriculum workshop is a focused, two-day skill-building program designed to help trainers develop content that enhances learning outcomes. Whether you’re a novice or an experienced trainer, this workshop provides the tools to create dynamic, learner-focused curricula that captivate and inspire. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all approaches—participant-centered learning fosters real engagement and understanding.

Why Choose This Workshop?

We believe in proven methods that work. This workshop incorporates the renowned UCLA Mastery Teaching Model alongside accelerated learning principles, offering hands-on practice with evidence-based instructional strategies. These research-backed methods ensure that adult learners can absorb and apply new information quickly and effectively. We don’t believe in lectures that lose interest—interactive, participant-centered approaches accelerate learning and make it stick.

Imagine developing a curriculum that meets your learners exactly where they are, actively engaging them throughout the entire learning process. This workshop helps you achieve that by equipping you with the tools to design curricula that focus on the learner’s experience.

Who Will Benefit?

  • Experienced Trainers: Stay ahead of the curve by mastering the latest training methods. Discover fresh ways to present content and incorporate more activity-based learning techniques into your sessions. Keep your training sessions dynamic, relevant, and impactful.

Designing Participant-Centered Curriculum

Day One: Building the Foundation for Your Lesson Plan

On Day One, participants begin developing their lesson plans by working through the first three steps of a six-step process. You will:

  • Plan how to structure lessons that focus on learner engagement.
  • Develop learning objectives that align with your training goals.
  • Organize content to ensure it’s clear, relevant, and easily digestible for your learners.

By the end of the day, you’ll have a strong foundation for a participant-centered curriculum tailored to the specific needs of your learners. You’ll then complete the first three steps in your own lesson plan.

Day Two: Completing Your Lesson Plan and Designing Learning Activities

Day Two builds on the progress from Day One. You’ll complete the final three steps of the six-step process, focusing on designing learning activities and creating effective trainer instructions. During this session, you will:

  • Finalize your lesson plan to ensure that it promotes active learning.
  • Design participant exercises that engage different learning styles.
  • Create clear, actionable instructions that trainers can use to facilitate learning effectively.

By applying these techniques, you’ll be able to deliver content in ways that enhance learning retention and motivation.

.

Conclusion

At the end of the workshop, you will have completed a fully developed participant-centered lesson plan, equipped with diverse activities and engaging learning materials. Whether you’re starting out or refining your approach, this workshop will help you create curricula that truly center on the learner, resulting in more effective and impactful training programs.

Feedback

I’m relieved to realize that there are many other training options than just lecture- and those options are more effective for the participants and more interesting for the trainer!

Deb set us up for success by having us learn and then practice designing our own lesson plans for our training programs.

The icing on the cake was designing our own learning activities to use in our training programs.
