Case Study: STRATEGIC PLANNING

Introduction: A Jewish nonprofit organization needed to implement a strategic planning process.

Challenge:  Coordinate the input of 85 community members over a six-month period.

Strategies:  Facilitate six volunteer task forces to define issues, consider alternatives, and make recommendations to the Budget and Planning Committee and, ultimately, to the Board of Directors.

Results:  Plans were proposed for six different areas of consideration: Community Resource Development, Leadership, Budget and Planning, Education, Social Services, and Hillel.

Impact: The Madison Jewish Community Council received the William J. Shroder Award from the Council of Jewish Federations for this planning process.

The Shroder award is considered the highest and most prestigious honor that a community Jewish Federation can receive.
